The Terrace Market Cafe

The biggest secret in Gainesville, Fl is in the new Shands Cancer Center at 1515 sw Archer rd. on the third floor. The Terrace Market Cafe. Usually when you think of hospital food you think of bland tasteless card board or a cafeteria that serves the same dull choices every day. Amazingly not so at the Terrace Cafe. Chef Josh Kraft who has mentored under Chef Linton Hopkins has an amazing menu items to choose from. Thursdays he serves the best fried chicken in Gainesville, possibly the best I have ever had. The hamburger, as simple as that is, is amazing. Burger chains beware. Every thing is in the true style of southern cooking. From the roasted pulled pork to Chef Josh's dixie bleu chicken "southern chicken cordon bleu" every day is culinary tribute to southern cuisine. They also make hand tossed pizzas and the deli has the best chicken salad and paninis. Soups are made fresh every day. What makes the difference? "All fresh ingredients, and from scratch cooking" Chef Josh Kraft told me. All this makes the Terrace Market Cafe a diamond in the rough in Gainesville's restaurant sea of sameness.
